| There are several parts in the body of an automotive device that a lot of us know very little about. However, their importance to the automobile itself is critical and that is why one must at least look to understand the basic functionality. For example, in the world of automotive engineering one would come across grillers, diffusers and louvers. They vary in their functions, styling and purpose. In fact, a lot of automobiles have their own styling and individual parts, different from the rest of the pack. Over the years, the automobiles come to be associated with the distinct parts, especially if they echo class and style profusely. Grilles
A grille is an opening in the vehicle’s body that allows air to enter inside to protect engine and radiator. Grilles are generally in front of the vehicle and on the rear deck lid. Over the years, different brands have used the grilles in various contrasting styles and patterns, which became their marquee features. The best example is Rolls Royce’s vertical grille and Alfa Romeo’s 6 bar shield. Currently Audi’s single frame grille is one of the most famous features. These are of various types. Based on mounting location, they could be radiator, bumper skirt, fender, hood scoop and roof grilles. Based on style there are factory style and custom styled models. They can also be differentiated based on material e.g. mesh, billet and plastic ones. Other varieties include egg crate, deflection and return air grille.
Diffusers
The main function of the diffuser is to improve the aerodynamic capabilities of the automobile. These are also of several varieties, most popular ones being square air, round air, variable swirl, and swirl air diffusers. One has to ensure that these meet the air diffusion needs of the vehicle irrespective of whether they are circular or square in shape. One of the important things to remember is that these should be easy to remove and clean. This will ensure that they perform well. The central core in other words shouldn’t be too hard to fit or remove.
Louvres
One can also find specially designed Louvres, with custom size blades that come with anodized bodies. These have to fit into the rest of the system smoothly. There are several different sizes of weather and gravity Louvres.
